Born in Delhi in 1968, and based out of Delhi itself, famous Indian Artist, Hem Raj, has added more glory to his alma-mater The College of Art, New Delhi, having pursued his Bachelors’ and Masters’ Degree in painting from there in the year of 1991 and 1993 respectively. To his credit he has a series of solo shows and several group exhibitions in various places in India. कल शाम को बीकानेर हाउस  में धूमिमल गैलरी द्वारा आयोजित हेमराज की प्रदर्शनी में दिल्ली का कला -- संसार उमड़ आया था।  कुछ कलाकार , कला प्रेमी अन्य शहरों से भी आये थे।हेमराज के पिता  श्री चंदन लाल थे। उनके गुरु राजेश मेहरा थे , जो कम ही बाहर निकलते हैं।मैं प्रदर्शनी के उद्घाटन से पहले साढे चार बजे ही पहुंच गया था।और वहां पहुंच कर हेमराज के चित्र--संसार में खो गया था। वह बहुत परिचित लगकर भी  हर बार नया लगता है , क्योंकि  हर बार उसमें  कुछ जुड़ जाता है , ऐसा जो सचमुच  कुछ नया हो। वह उन कलाकारों में से नहीं हैं जो अपनी एक पहचान बना कर  रुक से जाते हैं । वह तो सतत रचनाशील उन चित्रकारों में हैं जिनसे मानो हर बार वह चित्र भाषा ही यह कहती है कि मैं रूपाकारों ,रंगाकरों, रंगों और रेखाओं के साथ अब उसे कहना चाहती हूं जो तुम्हारे प्रकृति--प्रेमी  और जीवन-- प्रेमी कलाकार ने  अब तक नहीं कहा था।हां , बहुत गहरे प्रकृति प्रेमी, जीवन प्रेमी, संगीत प्रेमी, सुमेल प्रेमी चित्रकार हैं हेमराज ,तभी तो उनकी कला में एक ही कैनवास पर इतने विविध प्रकार के रंग , अपनी त्वरा, अपने तेवर , अपनी खोज में आकर एक दूसरे से मिल
